Evonik AEROSIL R202 is a hydrophobic gas-phase silica completely treated with polydimethylsiloxane. The surface of its particles is fixed with long chains of polydimethylsiloxane, which has strong hydrophobicity. When this hydrophobic product is dispersed in a polar system, this hydrophobic group can protect the remaining silicon hydroxyl groups on the surface of white carbon black to prevent excessive wetting. The remaining silicon hydroxyl groups and long chain hydrophobic groups make this hydrophobic gas-phase silica produce strong thickening and thixotropic effects, thereby overcoming the disadvantages of poor thickening and thixotropic properties of hydrophilic gas-phase silica in polar systems, and the easy reduction of thixotropic network stability.
